Nick Fohr enters the 2017-18 season, his seventh with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program, as associate coach of the U.S. National Under-18 Team.
He became the first associate coach in NTDP history following the 2016-17 season.
As assistant coach with Team USA, Fohr has helped lead two gold-medal teams (2015 & 2017) and one silver-medal squad (2013), at the International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 Men’s World Championship. Additionally, he served on the bench for one first-place finish (2014) and one second-place showing (2012) at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
A part of multiple tournament teams with the U.S. as an assistant, the Grand Forks, North Dakota, native has seen championships with the Under-17 Team at the Four Nations Tournament twice (2011, 2013) and Five Nations (2014) and Vlad Dzurilla (2012) tournaments once. While charged with assisting the U18s, Fohr helped guide winners at two Four Nations (2012, 2014) tournaments and two Five Nations tournaments (2016, 2017)
Fohr’s tour of duty with USA Hockey has also included serving as assistant coach with the U.S. Under-18 Select Team four times (2012, 2014, 2016, 2017) and in that same position at three CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Games (2012, 2014, 2016).
Fohr played four seasons (1998-2002) at the University of Nebraska Omaha and also previously starred in two seasons with the USHL’s Lincoln Stars (1996-98), where he earned a spot on the All-Star Team in 1997-98.
