PLYMOUTH, Mich. - USA Hockey announced today two new staff members for its National Team Development Program, including Ryan Hayes (Syracuse, N.Y.), who will serve as an assistant coach, and Gaby Turer (Milwaukee, Wis.), who has been named the 13th Brendan Burke Intern.
ABOUT HAYES
Hayes joins USA Hockey after spending the last 13 years playing professionally, including five seasons (2010-15) across the ECHL and eight campaigns (2015-23) in Europe, mostly in Switerland’s top league before finishing his career last year in Austria.
Hayes played at the NTDP from 2005-07 and competed in two IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championships, helping Team USA to gold (2006) and silver (2007) medals. The Syracuse, New York, native will join head coach Greg Moore (Lisbon, Maine) and assistant coach Chad Kolarik (Abington, Pa.) as the coaching staff for the U.S. National Under-17 Team for the 2023-24 season.
ABOUT TURER
Turer spent the 2022-23 season as a hockey operations and scouting intern for the Green Bay Gamblers, where she was responsible for scouting opposing USHL teams, conducting individual player evaluations and producing scouting reports. Turer is a 2023 graduate of St. Norbert College (Wis.), where she earned a degree in business administration while playing four seasons for the women’s ice hockey team (2019-23).
As the Brendan Burke Intern, Turer will gain experience in hockey operations working with the National Team Development Program, U.S. national teams, international events and USA Hockey’s player development camps.
