ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The U.S. National Under-17 Team ran into a fired up Fargo Force team at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube on Dec. 14, 2012. Behind a six goal outburst in the second period, the Force handed Team USA a 9-0 loss. The game was the second in a two-game series against the two squads. Fargo claimed the first game, 4-3, the previous night (Dec. 13).

The Force opened scoring at 5:16 of the first frame. Team USA put seven shots on net in the period, but was unable to get a puck past Fargo netminder Brendan Jensen.

Fargo came out firing in the second period, tallying six goals to amass a 7-0 advantage. U.S. goaltender Edwin Minney (Wind Gap, Pa.) was pulled in favor of Tyger Howat (South Lyon, Mich.) after the seventh goal. Jensen remained perfect on the night for the Force, stopping nine shots in the frame.

Minney reentered the game to start the third, but the Force kept coming strong at the U.S. Two goals in the period put Team USA down by a score of 9-0, and that's how the game would end.

Minney made 30 saves in the contest for the U.S., while Jensen earned the shutout by turning away all 26 shots he faced. Howat made one save on the only shot he saw in relief at the end of the second period.

The Under-17 Team next faces the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Friday, Dec. 21. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. Tickets are available by calling (734) 327-9251 or at the National Team Development Program office at 2121 Oak Valley Drive in Ann Arbor.
