ANN ARBOR, Mich. - USA Hockey's National Team Development Program today announced the addition of forward Shane Gersich (Chaska, Minn.) to the U.S. Men's National Under-18 Team roster for the 2013-14 season.

"We’re extremely excited to add Shane to our team," said Danton Cole, head coach of the U.S. National Under-18 Team. “Shane is a strong offensive force and he possesses a work ethic that will add depth and character to our squad.”

Gersich spent the past two seasons skating for Holy Family Catholic High School, tallying 58 goals and adding 64 assists in 44 games. He also played six games for the United States Hockey League’s Omaha Lancers last season, netting one goal.

Internationally, Gersich helped the U.S. Under-17 Select Team capture first place at the 2012 Five Nations Tournament in the Czech Republic last August. In two games, Gersich notched one goal and collected five assists. He also competed for the U.S. Under-16 Select Team at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria, scoring three goals and registering one assist in six games.

He is verbally committed to the University of North Dakota.

NOTES: Team USA will compete in the United States Hockey League, against collegiate competition and in three international tournaments in 2013-14.
