HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - J.T. Compher (Northbrook, Ill./1-3) and Hudson Fasching (Burnsville, Minn./2-2) each had four-point efforts, as the U.S. National Under-18 Team defeated the University of Alabama-Huntsville, 6-2, at the Von Braun Center on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012.

Fasching opened scoring at 15:32 of the first period. Tyler Motte (St. Clair, Mich.) and Compher collected assists on the tally.

Team USA doubled its lead at 4:16 of the middle frame when Tyler Kelleher (Longmeadow, Mass.) took a Will Butcher (Sun Prairie, Wis.) feed and found the back of the net. Fasching netted his second score of the contest at 11:14 to put the U.S. up, 3-0. The power play goal was assisted on by Scott Savage (San Clemente, Calif.) and Compher. The Chargers answered before time expired on the period to pull within two goals.

Connor Clifton (Matawan, N.J.) potted a goal at 2:18 of the final stanza and Team USA again enjoyed a three-goal advantage, 4-1. Butcher and Compher tallied goals just 28 seconds apart to pull away, 6-1. Fasching assisted on both goals, while Compher registered the lone helper on Butcher's score and Motte had a hand in Compher's tally. Alabama-Huntsville notched a late goal, but the U.S. lead proved insurmountable and Team USA won handily, 6-2.

Thatcher Demko (San Diego, Calif.) made 17 saves in the win for Team USA, while John Griggs and C.J. Groh combined to stop 31 shots in the loss for the Chargers.

The following night (Dec. 1, 2012), the two teams met in a rematch. Sean Malone (West Seneca, N.Y.) tallied a goal at 5:22 of the first period to stake a 1-0 lead for the Under-18 Team. Anthony Louis (Winfield, Ill.) and Steven Santini (Mahopac, N.Y.) registered assists on the play. The Chargers tied the game in the second period and the score remained deadlocked, 1-1, after 60 minutes of play.

Miska stopped 22 of 23 shots in Saturday's tie versus the Chargers.

A five-minute overtime period could not determine a winner and the game ended in a tie. Hunter Miska (North Branch, Minn.) turned aside 22 shots for Team USA, while Griggs had 35 saves for Alabama-Huntsville.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team continues on the college trail next weekend when it visits Merrimack College (Dec. 8) and the University of New Hampshire (Dec. 9). Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m. EST each game.
