GENEVA, Ill. — Twelve different skaters found the scoresheet as the U.S. National Under-18 Team used a five-goal second period to march past the Chicago Steel by a 7-2 final Saturday night at Fox Valley Ice Arena.

Alex Turcotte (Island Lake, Ill.) recorded a four-point night to lead the U18s, while John Beecher (Elmira, N.Y.) and Michael Gildon (Plano, Texas) and Matthew Boldy (Millis, Mass.) added two points apiece.

The win snapped a 14-game home winning streak for the Steel dating back to a 3-2 victory over Cedar Rapids on Dec. 4, 2018.

Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.) found the back of the net on the power play at the 5:47 mark of the second period to tie the game after a sharp-angled shot from Jack Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) glanced off the blocker of Steel goaltender Reilly Herbst.

Beecher then gave Team USA its second lead of the night after he corralled a loose puck in the crease and slipped it over the line. Patrick Moynihan (Millis, Mass.) doubled the advantage with his fifth goal in the past four games across all competitions.

Turcotte, who netted a short-handed marker, and Judd Caulfield (Grand Forks, N.D.), extended the lead to 6-2 with goals in the back half of the frame.

Domenick Fensore's (Thornwood, N.Y.) third-period tally accounted for the final goal of the contest.

Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) stopped 22 of 24 shots to earn his seventh USHL victory of the season.

The U18s return to the ice Feb. 27 when they face off against the Central Illinois Flying Aces. Puck drop is set for 8:07 p.m. ET at Grossinger Motors Arena.
