Jared Waimon Named Goaltending Coach to U.S. National Under-17 Team

Stecker, Rogers named team doctors; Bonnett named team leader

PLYMOUTH, Mich. -- Jared Waimon (Cromwell, Conn.) has been named as a goaltending coach to the U.S. National Under-17 Team’s staff for the 2019 U17 Five Nations Tournament from Feb. 5-10, 2019 at Stiga Arena in Tranås, Sweden, it was announced today. 

The Connecticut, native is currently serving in his fifth season as a goaltending coach with the men’s ice hockey team at Quinnipiac University. 

Waimon works with USA Hockey’s National Developmental Team Program as the Strelow Program East Regional Mentor. In fall 2018, Waimon debuted as a goalie coach for USA Hockey at the Women’s National Team Evaluation Camp. 

In addition, Waimon founded the Pro Crease Goaltending in 2007, based in Connecticut. Prior to Quinnipiac, he was the goaltending coach at Sacred Heart University. He also helped Trinity College win an NCAA Division III National Championship in 2015.

NOTES: Other USA Hockey NTDP staff additions headed into the international break include Dr. Steven Stecker (Dover, N.J.) as team doctor to the U.S. National Under-17 Team and Joe Bonnett (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Dr. Andrew Rogers (Medfield, Mass.) as team leader and team doctor to the U.S. National Under-18 Team for the U18 Five Nations Tournament from Feb. 5-9, 2019 at the Iceberg Skating Palace in Sochi, Russia.

ABOUT THE NTDP: USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program is in its 22nd season of competition and is based at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. The goal of the full-time development program is to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice.
