PLYMOUTH, Mich. - U.S. National Under-18 Team defenseman Cam York (Anaheim Hills, Calif.) earned his first USHL Defenseman of the Week honor, the USHL announced Monday morning. York became the first NTDP player to tally seven points in a single USHL game when he accomplished the feat Jan. 15 in an 11-3 win over the Youngstown Phantoms

York scored his first career hat trick and added four assists in Team USA’s victory over Youngstown. He is one of only three full-time USHL defenseman to average at least one point-per-game (1.17) and is now on a three-game point streak, with nine points (3G, 6A) in that span.

In his second USHL season, the University of Michigan commit doubled his point total on the season to 14 points (3G, 11A) with the seven-point showing against Youngstown, which matches his USHL career-high in just 12 games. The 14 points lead Team USA defensemen and are fifth among all Team USA players.

York is ranked 12th among North American skaters on the NHL Central Scouting Preliminary Players to Watch list. Before joining Team USA, York skated for Shattuck-St. Mary’s Prep (USHS-Prep).

Other winners included Fargo Force forward Ben Meyers, who earned his second honor this season, and Jared Moe of the Waterloo Black Hawks, who took home the Goaltender of the Week award for the second time in his USHL career.
