Hughes, who leads the U18s in scoring with 45 points (9-36-45) in 23 games will join the preliminary roster with older brother Quinn Hughes (Orlando, Fla.), who played with the NTDP from 2015-17.

Knight has amassed a record of 11-2-0 (W-L-T) and holds a 0.924 save percentage for the U18s this season.

Both players attended the World Junior Summer Showcase in Kamloops, B.C. earlier this season, and are the youngest players on the preliminary roster and only representatives from the 2001 birth class.

In total, 13 of the 29 selected for the preliminary camp are USA Hockey National Team Development Program alums.

Other NTDP alums on the roster include: defensemen Ty Emberson (2016-18/University of Wisconsin), Phil Kemp (2015-17/ Yale University), K’Andre Miller (2016-18/ University of Wisconsin) and Mattias Samuelsson (2016-18/Western Michigan University) and forwards Evan Barratt (2015-17/ Penn State University), Logan Cockerill (2015-17/ Boston University), Sean Dhooghe (2015-17/ University of Wisconsin), Joel Farabee (2016-18/Boston University),  Josh Norris (2015-17/ University of Michigan) and Oliver Wahlstrom (2016-18/ Boston College).

In addition, forwards Sasha Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) and Jay O’Brien (Hingham, Mass.), both who spent time with the NTDP, were also named to the roster.

The players will attend training camp Dec. 15-17 at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Wash., followed by an additional camp in Kamloops, B.C., from Dec. 18-20.

The final tournament roster is expected to be announced by Dec. 23.
