BOSTON -- Eight Team USA players notched points but the U.S. National Under-18 Team fell to Boston University in overtime 5-4 in the fifth game of the college series on Friday evening at Agganis Arena.
With the loss the U18s fall to 6-3-0-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) on the season and 2-3-0 (W-L-T) in NCAA action.
Judd Caulfield (Grand Forks, N.D.) put Team USA on the board :52 into the game, scoring his third goal in NCAA play this season before Boston University netted the equalizer with 9:03 left in the frame.
Matthew Boldy (Millis, Mass.) converted on the power play 2:20 into the middle stanza with assists by Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N. Y.) and Cam York (Anaheim Hills, Calif.). Boston University then tallied two goals late in the second period, giving them a 3-2 lead entering the final frame.
NTDP alum Joel Farabee (2015-17) netted a goal 1:12 into the third, doubling the Terrier's lead. Alex Vlasic (Wilmette, Ill.) and Owen Lindmark (Naperville, Ill.) scored two goals less than a minute apart with 11 minutes remaining, evening the score. Team USA had multiple scoring opportunities throughout the overtime period but ultimately fell with 24 seconds remaining with a breakaway goal from Boston University's Shane Bowers.
Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) stopped 30 of 35 shots in net for Team USA.
The U18s return to action tomorrow when they travel to Harvard University for a 7 p.m. ET faceoff at the Bright-Landry Center.
