Twenty-One Players Added to 2018-19 U.S. National Under-17 Team

Players will compete for USA Hockey’s NTDP at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich.

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Eleven forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders have been selected to join USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program located in Plymouth, Michigan, it was announced today. The 21 players from the 2002 birth year will compete for the U.S. National Under-17 Team for the 2018-19 season.

The Under-17 Team will play in the United States Hockey League, the only Tier I junior hockey league in the United States, as well as select competition against teams in the North American Hockey League and Minnesota Elite League. It will also compete in three international tournaments, including the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, 2018 Four Nations Tournament and 2019 Five Nations Tournament.

NOTES: Fourteen states are represented on the roster, with Minnesota leading the way with three natives. Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Texas, and Wisconsin all have two players. Alaska, California, Colorado, Indiana, Montana, Missouri, North Dakota, and Rhode Island each have one player … Seventeen players have verbally committed to play NCAA Division I college hockey … Forwards Landon Slaggert (South Bend, Ind.) and Luke Tuch (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) both have older brothers who graduated from the NTDP (Graham Slaggert, Alex Tuch) …  Thomas Bordeleau (Houston, Texas) is the son of Sebastien Bordeleau who spent parts of seven seasons in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators, Arizona Coyotes and Minnesota Wild. He is the grandson of Paulin Bordeleau who played for the Vancouver Canucks from 1973-76 … Landon Slaggert is the son of Andy Slaggert who has coached at the University of Notre Dame since 1993-94.
