Olympic Gold Medalist Megan Keller to Appear at NTDP Game

PLYMOUTH, Mich. — U.S. Olympic Women’s Team defenseman and 2018 Olympic gold medalist Megan Keller (Farmington, Mich.) will appear at the USA Hockey National Team Development Program game on Friday, March 30, at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.

The United States Hockey League regular season contest between Team USA and Youngstown Phantoms starts at 7 p.m. and Keller will be on hand to participate in a ceremonial puck drop, autograph session and other in-game promotions.

Keller, 21, recorded two assists at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, helping lead Team USA to its first women’s hockey gold medal in 20 years. In total Keller has won four gold medals, including three gold medals (2015, 2016, 2017) at the International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championship.

"I am really excited to come out to USA Hockey Arena this weekend," said Keller. "It's great to share this exciting time with everyone where I grew up and I look forward to doing that at the home of USA Hockey."

The defensemen won the 2016-17 Cammi Granato Award, given annually to Hockey East's top player, along with First-Team Hockey East honors, in her junior year at Boston College.

The Farmington native played youth hockey for Honeybaked Hockey Club.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Megan’s success so close to her hometown and at the home rink of USA Hockey,” said NTDP senior director of operations Scott Monaghan. “She is a great role model to so many young players in the area and it will be truly special to welcome her for our NTDP game on Friday.”

Keller will be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures with fans (starting at 6 p.m.), as well as participate in a pregame ceremonial puck drop and in-game promotions. Doors for the game open at 6 p.m. ET.

ABOUT THE NTDP: In 1996, USA Hockey launched a new initiative called the National Team Development Program, originally based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The goal of this full-time development program is to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice.
