9 Different Players Tally Goals; U18s Sweep Tri-City, 9-5

KEARNEY, Neb.- The U.S. National Under-18 Team defeated the Tri-City Storm, 9-5, on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the U18s won both matchups vs. Tri-City over the weekend series. With nine goals scored, Adam Samuelsson (San Diego, Calif.), Jake Wise (Reading, Mass.), and Alex Turcotte (Island Lake, Ill.) each assisted two goals to help lead U18s to a series sweep. 

Despite a quick goal from Tri-City 1:29 into the game, the U18s followed with three goals in return.  Jonathan Gruden (Rochester, Mich.) scored at 11:20 with assists from Turcotte and Gavin Hain (Grand Rapids, Minn.).  Defenseman Bode Wilde (Birmingham, Mich.) tallied another at 17:56, unassisted. Hain earned his second point of the game in the last nine seconds, ending the first period with a 3-1 lead.

The Storm came back strong for the third period scoring four goals.  Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.) and Mattias Samuelsson (Voorhees, N.J) kept Team USA’s lead with their early third period goals at 2:10 and 5:06.  Caufield’s goal was assisted by Joel Farabee (Cicero, N.Y.) and Jake Wise, while Mattias got assists from Oliver Wahlstrom and Jonathan Gruden. 

Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) ended the game with 19 saves.
