U18s Defeat Youngstown, 4-1

Wahlstrom tallies three points in win.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team defeated the Youngstown Phantoms, 4-1 this afternoon at USA Hockey Arena. Team USA sits alone atop the Eastern Conference with 55 points. 

Jack Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) netted the first goal of the game at 4:34 of the first period. Oliver Wahlstrom (Quincy, Mass.) picked up the lone assist on the goal. With the goal, Hughes extended his USHL point streak to nine games.

Highlights

K’Andre Miller (Minnetonka, Minn.) took a shot from the right point that deflected off of Wahlstrom and into the net at 6:51 of the first period to give Team USA a 2-0 lead.

Jonathan Gruden (Rochester, Mich.) cleaned up Hughes’s rebound at 15:30 of the second to extend the U18s lead.

Gruden sent the puck to Wahlstrom in the slot who put the puck into the back of the net at 4:11 of the third period. 

Youngstown netted a power play goal at 13:47 of the third period.

Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) finished the game with 20 saves while Youngstown’s Wouter Peeters finished with 35 saves.

The U18s are back in action Friday (March 2) as they head to Green Bay to take on the Gamblers in USHL action.
