PLYMOUTH, Mich. – USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program unveiled its Star Wars-inspired jerseys for its sixth annual Star Wars Night (Jan. 20) presented by Hines Park Lincoln.
The jerseys, designed by Darrin Brege, feature classic Star Wars villain Darth Vader and can be viewed here. This marks the second time the NTDP has utilized a Vader inspired jersey. Previous designs include Vader (2014), Han Solo (2015), Stormtrooper (2016) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens hero robot BB-8 (2017).
The jerseys will be auctioned off online at the NHL Auctions page. Bidding will commence following the game. Proceeds will benefit C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Since the auction’s inception, it has raised over $40,000 for the hospital.
"C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital can’t thank Team USA enough for their continued support over these last 5 years," said C.S. Mott community relations director, Byron Myer. "Their donation will allow us to provide outstanding support and programming to our patients and families and improve their overall Mott experience."
Among the festivities planned for Star Wars Night are appearances by characters represented by the 501st Legion & Rebel Legion costuming groups, as well as a ceremonial puck drop.
The game will pit the U.S. National Under-17 Team against the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League at 7 p.m. ET at USA Hockey Arena.
Tickets to the game are available at the USA Hockey Arena box office located at 14900 Beck Road in Plymouth, Michigan, by calling (734) 453-8400 or at USAHockeyArena.com/Tix. USA Hockey is also offering special promo tickets that when purchased, a portion goes directly back to the hospital.
