Rowe Stops 31; U17s Fall to Muskegon, 3-0

MUSKEGON, Mich. -  Team USA goaltender Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) stopped 31-of-34 shots as the U.S. National Under-17 Team lost, 3-0, to the Muskegon Lumberjacks in USHL action on Friday night at L.C. Walker Arena. 

The U17s overall record is 19-6-0-0. Team USA's record in the USHL is 10-8-0-0.

Muskegon's record is 11-11-1-1.  The Lumberjacks have won five games in a row.

Skater Leaders

Muskegon scored twice in the first period to lead 2-0 after twenty minutes, outshooting the U17s, 12-5.

While shorthanded, Matej Pekar gave the Lumberjacks a 1-0 lead at 6:29, scoring on a shot from the right circle that deflected off a U17 defender's stick past goaltender Cameron Rowe. At 15:56, Benito Posa scored from the left circle.

The U17s best chance came in the final minute of the period on Judd Caulfield (Grand Forks, N.D.) re-direct just outside the Muskegon blue ice.  Lumberjacks' goaltender Keegan Karki (2016-17) made the save.

Muskegon extended their lead to 3-0 at 1:03 of the second period when Emilio Pettersen found a rebound at the right post after Rowe made a save to score his fifth goal of the season.

Muskegon outshot the U17s, 34-20, in the game.
