RALSTON, Neb. — The U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Omaha Lancers, 6-1, on Saturday night at Ralston Arena.

Noah Cates recorded the lone goal of the first period to put Omaha up. With 5:37 to go in the frame, Cates shot the puck in from the doorstep to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead.

The Lancers scored three goals in the second period to make it a 4-0 game. Cole Gallant was the first to do so at the 4:01 mark, followed by a Filip Suchy goal from a two-on-one breakaway a few minutes later.

Skater Leaders

Brendan Furry closed out scoring in the second with a shot from the bottom right face-off dot for Omaha’s fourth goal of the night.

Suchy scored his second goal of the game at the 11:18 of the third period to make it 5-0.

Team USA’s lone goal was scored by Marshall Warren (Laurel Hollow, N.Y.) at the 10:48 mark of the final frame. The goal was scored on a redirect off of Jack Hughes’s (Orlando, Fla.) shot. Sean Farrell (Hopkinton, Mass.) added the secondary assist.

Cates closed out scoring at 16:28 with a snipe for his second goal of the night to make it 6-1.

Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) recorded 25 saves on the night, and Omaha’s goaltender Vincent Purpura tallied 17.
