U18s Top Adrian College, 2-1 in OT

Wahlstrom scored OT winner against Adrian College

The U.S. National Under-18 Team defeated the Adrian College Bulldogs in overtime, 2-1. The U18s have now beat the Bulldogs in six straight matchups.

With the win, the U18s now stand at 13-5-0-2-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL-T) on the season while improving their record to 3-4-0 (W-L-T) against collegiate opponents.

Skater Leaders

Adrian’s Matt McNair gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead at the 15:12 mark of the first period.

Bode Wilde (Birmingham, Mich.) tied the game for the U18s at the 3:16 mark of the second period off of a rebound. Tyler Weiss (Raleigh, N.C.) and Gavin Hain (Grand Rapids, Minn.) picked up the assists on the goal.

U18s goaltender, Drew DeRidder (Fenton, Mich.) made three strong saves in a row to keep the game tied at the 15:45 mark of the third period.

The Bulldogs put the puck in the back of the net at 8:56 of the third period but the goal was waved off due to a high-stick.

Bulldogs goaltender, Nikita Babintsev came up with a big save on a Team USA one-timer with 2:18 left in the third to keep the game tied at one.  

Oliver Wahlstrom (Quincy, Mass.) ended the game off a wrister from the slot at the 2:27 mark of the overtime period to win the game.

DeRidder recorded 31 saves in the win.
