U18s Shutout Central Illinois, 5-0

Hain netted two in the win and Rolston added three assists.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team defeated the Central Illinois Flying Aces, 5-0 tonight at USA Hockey Arena.

Gavin Hain (Grand Rapids, Minn.) opened the scoring at 8:48 of the second period sending a one-timer from Tyler Weiss (Raleigh, N.C.) into the top corner.

Trevor Janicke (Maple Grove, Minn.) extended the U18s lead to 2-0 after cleaning up a rebound at 14:15 of the second period. K’Andre Miller (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Jack DeBoer (Madison, N.J.) picked up assists on the goal.

Skater Leaders

Patrick Giles (Chevy Chase. Md.) made it a 3-0 lead at 14:53 of the second frame sending the puck into the net on a wrister. Ryder Rolston (Birmingham, Mich.) and Jake Goldowski (Thornhurst, Pa.) tallied assists on the goal.

Hain netted his second of the game after Rolston backhanded the puck to him in the slot. He put the puck over the shoulder of Central Illinois’ Kris Carlson at 11:30 of the third period.

Miller added a fifth goal for the U18s at 18:28 of the third period. Rolston picked up his third assist of the game. Janicke also added an assist.

Team USA’s Jonathan Mor (Highland Park, Ill.) earned the shutout making 29 saves in the game. The Flying Aces’ Carlson also recorded 29 saves.

The U18s are back in action Thanksgiving eve, Wednesday, Nov. 22 against Adrian College at 7 p.m. ET at USA Hockey Arena.
