Gildon Earns USHL Forward of the Week Honor

Gildon's four points earned him USHL honors

U.S. National Under-17 team forward, Michael Gildon (Plano, Texas) was named USHL Forward of the Week, the United States Hockey League announced Monday afternoon.

Gildon recorded four points Saturday night in the U17s win at Fox Valley Ice Arena against the Chicago Steel.

The U17s won its first USHL game in a 10-5 victory over the defending Clark Cup Champions, Gildon picked up a hat trick and an assist in the game.

He scored consecutively in the opening period and tallied the last goal of the game at 16:36 of the final frame. He earned a secondary assist on John Beecher’s (Elmira, N.Y.) goal, which also came in the third period.

Sioux Falls’ A.J. Villella earned Defenseman of the Week and Green Bay’s Maksim Zhukov earned Goaltender of the Week honors.

The U17s are back in USHL action Saturday, Oct. 21 when the Green Bay Gamblers come to USA Hockey Arena for a weekend series.Tickets can be are available at USAHockeyNTDP.com/Tickets.
