Blade Jenkins (Jackson, Mich.) scored the lone goal for the U.S. National Under-17 Team as it fell to the Green Bay Gamblers, 5-1, here tonight at Resch Center.
The U.S. jumped out to an early lead just 1:59 after puck drop when a shot by K'Andre Miller (Hopkins, Minn.) hit off a defenseman's skate to Jenkins, who one-timed it for the score. Ty Emberson (Eau Claire, Wis.) also picked up an assist on the play.
At 6:23, Jared Spooner scored on a wrist shot for Green Bay to make the score 1-1. With 6:03 on the clock in the first period, Connor Mackey added a power-play goal to give the Gamblers a 2-1 advantage.
Green Bay's Dante Palecco netted a power-play marker for the only goal of the second frame.
The Gamblers added a pair of goals in the third period, at 2:52 and 6:08, to account for the 5-1 U.S. loss.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow at 8:05 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed live on HockeyTV.com.
