Hernandez registers two helpers in loss

The USA Hockey National Team Development Program fell to the North American Hockey League South All-Star Team 3-2 on Monday evening at USA Hockey Arena. 

Jake Pivonka (Woodridge, Ill.) opened the scoring for Team USA when he buried a rebound in front of the net off a point shot from Will MacKinnon (Plymouth, Mich.). Randy Hernandez (Miami, Fla.) also registered an assist on the play. 

Team South added two goals in the first and one in the second period to bring the final score to 3-1 heading into the final period. 

Max Gildon (Plano, Texas) scored at the 17:39 mark of the third period to cut the lead to 3-2 when he fired a wrist shot past Team NAHL goaltender Nikita Babintsey. David Farrance (Victor, N.Y.) and Hernandez assisted on the goal.

NTDP goaltender Ryan Ullan (Hibbing, Minn.) made 32 saves on 35 shots. He is now 7-10-2-0 on the season.

Team USA concludes in participation in the 2017 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament with a 5 p.m. ET matchup against the NAHL Selects tomorrow at USA Hockey Arena. Tickets are available via walk up.
