Tyler Weiss Scores Only U.S. Goal in Loss

Tyler Weiss (Raleigh, N.C.) scored Team USA's only goal as the U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 4-1, here tonight at Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

Steven Agriogianis put Cedar Rapids on the board 7:07 into the game, and Grant Loven extended the RoughRider's lead to 2-0 with five minutes on the clock in the opening frame. 

With 3:19 remaining in the second period, Justin Cole added a power-play goal from the right faceoff dot to put the U17s at a 3-0 deficit.

At 15:48, Weiss scored the lone goal for the U.S. on a Team USA power play. Will MacKinnon (Plymouth, Mich.) and Bode Wilde (Birmingham, Mich.) added assists on the play.

T.J. Walsh responded for Cedar Rapids less than a minute later to account for the 4-1 final.

Goaltender Ryan Ullan (Hibbing, Minn.) stopped 21 shots for the U.S., while Drew DeRidder made 14 saves for the RoughRiders.
