St. Cyr Turns Away 24 Shots in NCAA D-III Win

The U.S. National Under-18 Team defeated the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at USA Hockey Arena. Goaltender Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) made 23 stops in the win.

With the victory, the U18s finish their weekend against two NCAA Division III opponents with a pair of wins.

Logan Cockerill (Brighton, Mich.) started the scoring at 10:29 of the first period with a wrister from the top of the left circle that sailed over Pointers’ goalie Max Milosek’s blocker.

UW-Stevens Point answered with a goal as a U.S. penalty expired with 1:45 to play in the opening frame.

After a scoreless second period, Scott Reedy (Prior Lake, Minn.) broke the tie just :31 into the third stanza after he wristed a shot off a centering pass from Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa.).

Brady Tkachuk (St. Louis, MO.) sealed the Under-18 Team’s win with an empty-net goal with :41 to play.

Team USA is back in action at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday at USA Hockey Arena against the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League.
