Gavin Hain (Grand Rapids, Minn.), Tyler Weiss (Raleigh, N.C.) and Bode Wilde (Birmingham, Mich.) tallied goals for Team USA as the U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Des Moines Buccaneers, 6-3, tonight at USA Hockey Arena.
Des Moines capitalized on an early Team USA penalty when Tommy Parrottino took a pass in the slot and deked to his backhand and buried a goal just :56 into the first period.
The Buccaneers doubled their lead at 16:41 when Julian Napravnik took a pass right inside the blue line and scored on a breakaway goal.
Team USA bounced back less than two minutes later when Rain, playing in his first game with stripped a Bucs defensemen at the blue line and wristed a shot through the five-hole of Nick MacNab.
The U17s tied up the game early in the second period when Wilde tallied his second goal of the season off a faceoff feed from defensive partner K’Andre Miller (Hopkins, Minn.).
The Bucs added four unanswered goals before Weiss scored his first goal in a NTDP uniform off a feed from Ty Emberson (Eau Claire, Wis.).
Jake Wise (North Andover, Mass.) also tallied an assist on the evening.
Team USA goaltender Ryan Ullan (Hibbing, Minn.) made 16 saves on the evening. His record on the season now stands at 1-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in USHL play.
