Ralston, Neb. – Brady Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.) scored a goal and added an assist in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program Under-18 Team's 6-2 loss to the Omaha Lancers this afternoon at Ralston Arena.
After falling in a two-goal hole in the first period, Tkachuk added a late period tally off a feed from Tommy Miller (West Bloomfield, Mich.). Sean Dhooghe (Aurora, Ill.) also picked up his second assist of the preseason on the play.
The Lancers added three straight goals before Randy Hernandez (Miami, Fla.) netted his second goal of the season off a feed from Tyler Inamoto (Barrington, Ill.). Tkachuk added his second point of the game with the secondary assist.
Omaha added one last goal midway through the third period to make the score 6-2.
Team USA was scoreless on the power play in eight attempts but shut down the Lancers on their three power play attempts. They outshot Omaha 29-25 but Lancers goalie was solid with a 27 save performance.
Adam Scheel (Lakweood, Ohio) got the start for the U18 squad and made eight saves on 13 shots. Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) split time with Scheel, taking over in the second period, making 11 saves to finish the game.
The U18 squad travels to Pittsburgh next weekend to conclude their preseason schedule by participating in the USHL Fall Classic East. They will take on Dubuque on Friday at 4 p.m. and Youngstown at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
