Ralston, Neb. – The USA Hockey National Team Development Program Under-18 Team scored goals on a power play and penalty kill but fell in a 3-2 preseason match to the Tri-City Storm on Friday afternoon at Ralston Arena.

After falling in a two-goal hole early in the first period, David Farrance (Victor, N.Y.) tallied on the team's first goal of the season, on the power play, at the 14:17 mark of the first period. Josh Maniscalaco (Perkiomenville, Pa.) and Grant Mismash (Edina, Minn.) picked up their first points of the season by assisting on the goal.

After the Storm widened the lead back to two at the 6:35 mark of the second period, Randy Hernandez (Miami, Fla.) capitalized on a man-advantage mistake by Tri-City, by burying his first goal of the season, a short handed goal at the 14:38 mark of the third period. Farrance tallied his second point of the night with an assist. Sean Dhooghe (Aurora, Ill.) also added an assist.

Despite recording eight shots on goal in the third period, the U-18 squad couldn't complete the comeback.

In 59:23 of play, Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) made 22 saves on 25 shots as he recorded his first loss of the season.

The U18 squad is back in action tomorrow at 4 p.m. when they take on the Omaha Lancers to conclude their participation in the USHL Fall Classic West.
