Cockerill, Suthers and Hutsko Add Single Tallies

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Defenseman David Farrance (Victor, N.Y.) tallied two goals as the U.S. National Under-17 Team corralled the Sioux Falls Stampede, 5-3, here tonight at USA Hockey Arena.

Sioux Falls struck first, just over five minutes into the opening period. Shortly after, the U.S. potted the equalizer when Farrance fed a pass to Logan Cockerill (Brighton, Mich.), who was skating up the right wing. Cockerill received the puck and lasered a shot into the net from the top of the right circle. At 15:08 the Under-17 Team pulled ahead, 2-1, when Farrance rocketed a shot from the left point through a net-front screen. Farrance notched his second of the night, on the power play, less than three minutes later, with a center-point shot.

During the middle stanza, Keenan Suthers (Macomb, Mich.) scored unassisted, on a breakaway, at 6:13. U.S. goaltender Dylan St.Cyr (Northville, Mich.) turned aside all 11 Stampede shots he faced to keep the score, 4-1, in USA’s favor after two periods of play.

Logan Hutsko (North Caldwell, N.J.) snapped a shot from the bottom right circle to light the lamp near the midway point of the final frame. Sioux Falls then notched back-to-back unanswered markers to pull within two, but Team USA closed the contest and won, 5-3.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team returns to action Friday, March 25, against the United States Hockey League’s Cedar Rapids RoughRiders at Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. Puck drop is slated for 8 p.m. ET, and the game will stream live on FASTHockey.com.
