NTDP Home Stand Continues for U17 Team

U17s Host Two USHL Games While U18s Play at Arizona State

A full slate of games awaits the U.S. National Under-17 and Under-18 Teams. The U17s have two contests at USA Hockey Arena while the U18s hit the road for two games.

USHL TWOSOME: The U17s host the Bloomington Thunder at 7 p.m. Thursday and the Omaha Lancers at 2 p.m. Sunday in United States Hockey League action.

The team is coming off three losses last week, including two against the squads competing as part of the North American Hockey League Top Prospects Tournament early last week.

Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.) and Scott Reedy (Prior Lake, Minn.) scored in the first game, on Monday, but Team USA lost 3-2. Goalie Adam Scheel (Lakewood, Ohio) had 35 saves. On Tuesday, Brady Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.), Sean Dhooghe (Aurora, Ill.) and Grant Mismash (Edina, Minn.) scored while Scheel had 35 stops, but Team USA lost 6-3.

The U17s closed out the week with a 5-2 loss to Muskegon on Sunday. Logan Cockerill (Brighton, Mich.) and Tommy Miller (West Bloomfield, Mich.) scored while Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) finished with 30 saves.

READY FOR SUN: The U18s are in Tempe for a two-game series with Arizona State University on Saturday and Sunday. ASU is playing a hybrid schedule this season between the American College Hockey Association and NCAA prior to becoming a full-time NCAA Division I team next year.

The U18s have been off since finishing fourth at the Five Nations Tournament in Finland.

  • Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Matt Carle (Anchorage, Alaska/2000-02) played in his 700th career NHL game this month. Carle has played for three teams in 11 seasons.
  • Idaho Steelheads goaltender Jack Campbell (Port Huron, Mich./2008-10) was the East Coast Hockey League Goalie of the Week for Feb. 8-14. He went 2-0 with one shutout, a 0.48 goals-against average and a .983 save percentage in two appearances.
  • The University of Minnesota’s Hudson Fasching (Burnsville, Minn./2011-13) earned Big Ten Conference Second Star honors on Feb. 17. Fasching had two goals and four points in a sweep of Ohio State University.
  • The University of Michigan’s J.T. Compher (Northbrook, Ill./2011-13) received Big Ten Third Star honors. Compher had one goal and five points in helping Michigan take five out of six points at the University of Wisconsin.
  • Northeastern University’s Nolan Stevens (Manhattan Beach, Calif./2012-14) was named the Hockey East Player of the Week on Feb. 15. Stevens tallied three goals and recorded five points in a two-game sweep of UMass.
  • Boston University’s Jordan Greenway (Potsdam, N.Y./2013-15) earned Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors on Feb. 15. Greenway scored the overtime game-winner and added an assist in a split with UMass-Lowell.
  • Boston College’s Alex Tuch (Baldwinsville, N.Y./2012-14) scored the game-winner in overtime to lead the Eagles to a 1-0 win over Boston University and the 20th Beanpot title in BC history.
  • The U17s carry a 16-23-6 (W-L-OTL) overall mark into this week.
  • Scott Reedy (18-30) paces the U17s with 48 points in 45 games. Grant Mismash (18-20) is second with 38 points, while Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa./14-23) is third with 37 points. Jacob Tortora (Victory, N.Y./14-14) is fourth with 28 points. Sean Dhooghe (19-8) is fifth with 27 points.
  • Dylan St. Cyr and Adam Scheel split time in goal for the U17s. St. Cyr is 11-12-3 with a 3.48 GAA and an .880 save percentage. Scheel is 5-11-3 with a 4.46 GAA and an .876 save percentage.
  • The U18s carry a 32-9-4-1 (W-L-OTL-T) record into this weekend’s series.
  • Clayton Keller (Swansea, Ill./28-52) continues to pace the U18s with 80 points while Kieffer Bellows (Edina, Minn./36-24) ranks second with 60 points. Adam Fox (Jericho, N.Y./7-36) is third with 43 points. Rounding out the top five are Joey Anderson (Roseville, Minn./18-21) and Trent Frederic (St. Louis, Mo./15-14) with 39 and 29 points, respectively.
  • Jake Oettinger (Lakeville, Minn.) and Joseph Woll (St. Louis, Mo.) split time in goal for the U18s. Oettinger is 18-6-1-0 with a 2.58 GAA and a .903 save percentage. Woll is 14-3-3-1 with a 2.15 GAA and a .920 save percentage.
