A full slate of games awaits the U.S. National Under-17 and Under-18 Teams. The U17s have two contests at USA Hockey Arena while the U18s hit the road for two games.
USHL TWOSOME: The U17s host the Bloomington Thunder at 7 p.m. Thursday and the Omaha Lancers at 2 p.m. Sunday in United States Hockey League action.
The team is coming off three losses last week, including two against the squads competing as part of the North American Hockey League Top Prospects Tournament early last week.
Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.) and Scott Reedy (Prior Lake, Minn.) scored in the first game, on Monday, but Team USA lost 3-2. Goalie Adam Scheel (Lakewood, Ohio) had 35 saves. On Tuesday, Brady Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.), Sean Dhooghe (Aurora, Ill.) and Grant Mismash (Edina, Minn.) scored while Scheel had 35 stops, but Team USA lost 6-3.
The U17s closed out the week with a 5-2 loss to Muskegon on Sunday. Logan Cockerill (Brighton, Mich.) and Tommy Miller (West Bloomfield, Mich.) scored while Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) finished with 30 saves.
READY FOR SUN: The U18s are in Tempe for a two-game series with Arizona State University on Saturday and Sunday. ASU is playing a hybrid schedule this season between the American College Hockey Association and NCAA prior to becoming a full-time NCAA Division I team next year.
The U18s have been off since finishing fourth at the Five Nations Tournament in Finland.
