It will be a quiet week in Plymouth, Michigan, as both the U.S. National Under-17 and Under-18 Teams are on the road. The U17s play a pair of United States Hockey League games while the U18s play two college contests.
MICHIGAN RIVALS: The U18s head to Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor to face the University of Michigan on Thursday before facing Michigan State University on Saturday in East Lansing. Thursday's game can be watched online at MGoBlueTV while Saturday's contest is available at BTN2go.com.
The U18s split a two-game road series with the Waterloo Blackhawks over the weekend, falling 4-3 in overtime on Friday before responding with a 5-1 win on Saturday. The squad played a Monday matinee against the Youngstown Phantoms.
Graham McPhee (Bethesda, Md.) scored two goals on Friday while Chad Krys (Ridgefield, Conn.) had one. Goalie Joseph Woll (St. Louis, Mo.) stopped 29 shots.
The next night, Clayton Keller (Swansea, Ill.) tallied a pair of goals while goalie Jake Oettinger (Lakeville, Minn.) kicked out 31 of 32 shots. Joey Anderson (Roseville, Minn.), Kieffer Bellows (Edina, Minn.) and McPhee also scored.
OFF TO MADISON: The U17s head to Madison to face the Capitals on Friday and Saturday in USHL play.
The U17s split a pair of USHL home games over the weekend, winning 6-4 against Muskegon on Friday before losing 5-1 to Bloomington on Saturday. They are in Muskegon for a rematch Monday.
Sean Dhooghe (Aurora, Ill.) and Grant Mismash (Edina, Minn.) each had a pair of goals in the come-from-behind win over Muskegon. Jacob Tortora (Victor, N.Y.) and Randy Hernandez (Miami, Fla.) also scored. Goalie Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) finished with 24 saves.
Against Bloomington, Logan Cockerill (Brighton, Mich.) had the lone tally while goalie Adam Scheel (Lakewood, Ohio) kicked out 33 shots.
