U17s Next Face Muskegon in Matinee Game Monday

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Logan Cockerill (Brighton, Mich.) tallied the lone goal as the U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Bloomington Thunder, 5-1, here tonight at USA Hockey Arena.

After a chippy, scoreless first period, Bloomington struck one minute into the second frame. Just 1:28 later, from the top of the right faceoff circle, Jacob Tortora (Victor, N.Y.) flipped the puck to a rushing Cockerill who backhanded a chip shot into the cage to tie the game. Bloomington scored three straight goals to close the middle stanza leading Team USA, 4-1.

Bloomington picked up their fifth and final score at 11:32 of the third period.

Adam Scheel (Lakewood, Ohio) made the start in net for the Under-17 Team and stopped 33 shots in the loss.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team is back in action Monday, January 18, when they travel west to face in-state rival Muskegon. The puck drops at 12:30 p.m. at L.C. Walker Arena and can be seen via streaming video at FASTHockey.com.
