McPhee and Walker Tally One Goal Each in Regulation

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Kieffer Bellows (Edina, Minn.) and Adam Fox (Jericho, N.Y.) each scored in the shootout, while Joseph Woll (St. Louis, Mo.) turned aside each attempt he faced as the U.S. National Under-18 Team bested Chicago, 3-2, here tonight at USA Hockey Arena.

Chicago netted the game's first tally just 3:14 into the opening period. Zach Walker's (Boise, Idaho) wraparound marker, his second goal on the season, knotted the game midway through. Nick Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) and Matthew Hellickson (Rogers, Minn.) assisted on the play.

Woll replaced starting U.S. netminder, Jake Oettinger (Lakeville, Minn.), who stopped 13 of 14 shots against, 8:44 into the second stanza. National Team Development Program alumnus Grant Gabriele (Brighton, Mich./2014-15) staked the lead once more for the Steel late in the period, beating Woll the only time in the contest.

Graham McPhee (Bethesda, Md.) lit the lamp at 10:02 of the third frame with Trent Frederic (St. Louis, Mo.) and Joey Anderson (Roseville, Mich.) earning helpers. Both teams couldn't find the back of the net for the remaining minutes of regulation and with the game tied, 2-2, an overtime was forced.

Team USA dominated the extra frame, earning a power play late and generating numerous chances on Chicago's Daniel Vladar. Shots were 5-2 in favor of the USA, but the game would be settled by the shootout.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team next sets its sights on its first international tournament of the season when it travels to Switzerland for the 2015 Five Nations Tournament. First up is the Czech Republic on Nov. 4. Full coverage can be found on USAHockeyNTDP.com.
