Tortora, Mismash Each Notch Marker in Contest

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Jacob Tortora (Victor, N.Y.) and Grant Mismash (Edina, Minn.) each notched one tally, but the U.S. National Under-17 Team was edged, 3-2, by the Lincoln Stars here tonight at USA Hockey Arena.

Both teams skated hard for the opening 15 minutes of the game before Tortora netted an unassisted goal at 14:52 of the first period. Team USA held Lincoln off the board for the remainder of the frame and outshot the Stars, 23 – 17.

In the second stanza, USA goaltender Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) stopped all 12 Lincoln shots he faced, and then at 11:19 of the period, Mismash potted the second USA goal with help from Phil Kemp (Greenwich, Conn.) and Tortora.

Lincoln got on the board late when in the final period the Stars netted back-to-back goals to knot the game at two. USA and Lincoln traded chances until the final minute of the game when Lincoln found the back of the net for the game-winning goal.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team and the Lincoln Stars clash again in United States Hockey League action tomorrow night (Oct. 24). The puck drops at 7 p.m. at USA Hockey Arena.
