USA vs. Germany - The Series

Today’s game marks just the seventh meeting between the United States and Germany and the International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s Under-18 World Championship, and first since 2011. The two countries have only met four times since 2001, with the U.S. earn- ing victories in all of those contests. Germany owned a slight edge in the overall record during the event’s early years, with two wins coming in consecutive tournaments (2000- 01). Overall, the Team USA is 5-0-0-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L) against the Germans and holds a 37-10 advantage in total goals during the series.

Team USA All-Time in the Preliminary Round

Today’s game is the 69th all-time preliminary-round contest for the U.S. at the IIHF Un- der-18 Men’s World Championship. Overall, Team USA boasts a 51-0-1-15-1 (W-OTW-OTL- L-T) record in the group stage of the event. Since 2001, the United States is 49-0-1-9-1 in preliminary play, good for a .825 winning percentage during that stretch.
