FARGO, N.D. - Joseph Woll (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) turned aside 30 shots but the Fargo Force slipped past the U.S. National Under-17 Team, 3-2, here tonight at Scheels Arena. These two teams will square off again tomorrow night in a rematch.
Fargo scored first at 5:15 of the first frame. Ryan Lindgren (Minneapolis, Minn.) equaled the score for Team USA with 1:46 remaining in the period. Adam Fox (Jericho, N.Y.) assisted on the power-play strike.
Patrick Khodorenko (Walnut Creek, Calif.) staked the lead for the U.S. at 13:16 of the second stanza. Woll made nine saves to preserve the Under-17 Team lead heading into the third.
Two power-play markers scored at 11:58 and 14:52 of the third by the Force were enough to push Fargo past the U.S., 3-2.
The U.S. National Under-17 Team and the Fargo Force will meet again tomorrow night (March 14) at Scheels Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET and the entire contest can be seen via FASTHockey online.
Team USA was outshot by Fargo, 33-16 ... The U.S. went 1-3 on the power play while the Force went 2-6.
