Friday's contest between the U.S. National Under-18 Team and Michigan State University will be available to a national television audience via Fox Sports Detroit Plus. The game, which will take place at Munn Ice Arena on the MSU campus, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
Team USA is looking for its third-straight win against the Spartans and its fifth win in the last six meetings between the two programs.
The U18s skated to a 4-3 overtime victory in the last game in the series. Jack Eichel (North Chelmsford, Mass./2012-14) notched a pair of goals - including the game-winner - and added an assist, while Sonny Milano (Massapequa, N.Y./2012-14) had three points (1-2) and current National Team Development Program forward Auston Matthews (Scottsdale, Ariz.) scored one goal.
The NTDP has produced 21 players who have gone on to skate at Michigan State University. That list includes MSU standouts such as Andrew Hutchinson (Rochester Hills, Mich./1997-98) and John-Michael Liles (Zionsville, Ind./1997-99), as well as current Spartans goaltender Edwin Minney (Wind Gap, Pa./2012-14) and forward Dylan Pavelek (Marysville, Mich./2012-14).
Team USA is 6-4-0 (W-L-T) all-time against Michigan State … The Spartans hold a 35-34 edge in goals scored in the series.
