Team USA Nets Three Power-Play Goals and One Shorthanded.

TOLEDO, Ohio - Six different U.S. players scored and goaltender Michael Lackey (Washington, D.C.) turned in a 17-save performance to help the U.S. National Under-18 Team to a 6-1 triumph over NCAA Division III Adrian College in an outdoor game at Fifth Third Field as part of the Toledo Walleye's Winterfest today.

Michael Floodstrand (Hinsdale, Ill.) connected on the man advantage at 8:12 of the opening frame to give Team USA a quick 1-0 lead. After working the puck into the offensive zone, Joseph Masonius (Spring Lake, N.J.) batted the puck to Christian Fischer (Wayne, Ill.) in the slot. Fischer quickly moved it to Floodstrand, who found a lane through bodies and scored. Brendan Warren (Carleton, Mich.) doubled the U.S. lead with a power-play tally of his own at 14:17. Colin White (Hanover, Mass.) slid the puck down the wall to Jeremy Bracco (Freeport, N.Y.) in the corner. Bracco collected the pass, turned and sauced a feed to Warren in the slot, where he one-timed it into the top corner.

Troy Terry (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and Fischer scored before the 10:16 mark of period two to give the U18s a 4-0 edge after 40 minutes of play. Terry's goal came on a shorthanded breakaway at 6:21. After tipping a puck off the wall and around an Adrian defender, Terry skating in all alone, deked to his backhand and slid the puck through the Adrian College goaltender's legs. Fischer notched a power-play marker at 10:16 with help from Terry and Floodstrand. Team USA cruised through center and entered the zone on a three-on-two. Terry dished it to Fischer in the right circle, and he picked a corner.

Adrian finally cracked the scoreboard 1:18 into the final period with a power-play tally, but Masonius and Matthew Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.) answered with goals of their own to close out a 6-1 Team USA victory.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team returns to action Saturday (Jan. 3) when it travels to Grand Forks, North Dakota, to play the No. 2-ranked University of North Dakota. Opening draw at Ralph Engelstad Arena is slated for 8:07 p.m. ET.
