Jake Oettinger Makes 35 Saves; Joey Anderson Scores Twice

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Joey Anderson (Roseville, Minn.) netted two goals and Jake Oettinger (Lakeville, Minn.) made 35 saves as the U.S. National Under-17 Team doubled up the Dubuque Fighting Saints, 4-2, here tonight at the Mystique Ice Center. The victory was the first for the U17s in United States Hockey League action.

Team USA tallied the game's first goal at 15:22 of the opening frame while skating with the man advantage. Graham McPhee (Bethesda, Md.) lit the lamp with Ryan Lindgren (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Adam Fox (Jericho, N.Y.) earning assists.

In the second stanza, Keeghan Howdeshell (Brighton, Mich.) doubled Team USA's advantage at 2:31. Chad Krys (Ridgefield, Conn.) and Lindgren collected helpers on the score. The Under-17 Team's second power-play strike came off the stick of Anderson with 1:17 remaining in the period. Clayton Keller (Swansea, Ill.) and Krys assisted on the goal, giving the U.S. a 3-0 lead heading into the intermission.

Dubuque cut into the Team USA lead at 5:08 of the third frame, but the U17s responded just over three minutes later when Anderson potted his second tally. Keller earned the goal's lone assist. The Fighting Saints notched a power-play goal at 11:49, but it would prove as close as they'd get to the U.S. Oettinger made 15 of his 35 saves in the third period to help preserve the victory.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team will head out to visit the Muskegon Lumberjacks next weekend (Dec. 5-6) for two away games. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET both nights and can be seen on FASTHockey.com.
