PLYMOUTH, Mich. - The U.S. National Under-18 Team overcame a three goal third period deficit but, fell in a shootout, 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at USA Hockey Arena.

Despite doubling Green Bay's shot total in the middle frame, the U18s were unable to get on the scoreboard in the period.

Late in the second, the Gamblers added to their lead, just barely trickling the puck into the net on a shot from David Rozsival to make it 2-0 as the game headed into the final period.

Green Bay made it a three-goal deficit for Team USA, as William Samuelson capitalized on a two-on-one opportunity 5:15 into the third.

Similarly from the night before, Team USA battle back late in the final period. Dayne Beuker (Portland, Ore.) found himself with a wide-open net off of a rebound shot by Parker Trottier (Edina, Minn.) to get the U.S. within striking distance.

24 seconds later, Beuker was called upon once again. Picking up the puck from Logan Lutner (Maple Grove, Minn.) he drove into the zone and fired it past the Gamblers goaltender for his second goal of that shift.

AJ Francisco (Hermantown, Minn.) tied the game and sent it into overtime on a shot from the top of the circle. After a flurry of chances by the 18s, Mikey Berchild's (Minnetonka, Minn.) shot fell back to Francisco who sniped it past Roberto Henriquez for his third goal of the season.

With overtime unable to produce a winner, the game moved to a shootout, where Green Bay scored twice on three attempts to edge out Team USA, 4–3.

The U18s are back at USA Hockey Arena on Friday, Jan. 30 as they host the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. ET and tickets are available at USAHockeyNTDP.com/tix or by calling the box office at 734-453-8400.
