U17s Fall to Dubuque, 8-1

DUBUQUE, Iowa -

Both teams started out the first period trading chances, with Team USA outshooting Dubuque 9-8 through the first 20 minutes.

It was the Fighting Saints who managed to score the first of the game as Colin Frank capitalized on a loose puck in front.

Melvin Ekman made it 2-0 for Dubuque at the 17:15 mark in the second period.

Team USA got on the board with a Nolan Fitzhenry highlight reel goal. Taking the puck from his own zone, he made a dazzling move to split both defensemen in the neutral zone, and made a move to put the puck past the goaltender to make it 2-1.

The Fighting Saints answered on the power play moments later on a one-timer in the slot and added another one late in the period to make it 4-1 to head into the third period.

In the third period, Colin Frank and Dante Josefsson-Westling each added two goals, while Gavin Lock scored twice for Dubuque to seal the 8–1 final.

The U17s are back tomorrow night, Saturday, Jan 10. as they take the Dubuque in the weekend double-header. The game will be streamed live on FloHockey.TV
