Berchild's Four Points leads U18s over Adrian, 7-1

Six players record multiple points; Stuart tallies a pair

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Mikey Berchild (Minnetonka, Minn.) tallied a goal and three assists as the U.S. National Under-18 Team defeated the Adrian Bulldogs, 7-1, tonight inside USA Hockey Arena.

Team USA's seven goals were the most goals the NTDP has scored against a college team since 2023 (Oct. 20, 2023 @ Utica - W, 7-1).

Team USA got off to a quick start in the first as Parker Trottier (Edina, Minn.) made it 1-0 at 7:46. A strong forecheck from Casey Mutryn (Norwell, Mass.) forced a turnover as the puck squeaked out to Trottier who fired it past starting Bulldog netminder Jackson Bernard.

Adrian nearly knotted things up at 9:15 on a breakaway chance, but starting U.S. netminder Luke Carrithers (Maple Grove, Minn.) turned the opportunity aside to keep Team USA in the lead. Sammy Nelson (Maple Grove, Minn.) extended Team USA's lead with a shorthanded tally at 17:36. Brody George (Johnstown, Pa.) raced down the wing and fired a shot on net which was initially blocked. AJ Francisco (Hermantown, Minn.) picked up the rebound and fed Nelson for the score.

Logan Stuart (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) broke the second period open at 2:04 with a power-play goal. The puck was worked around the offensive zone before Nelson fed Stuart along the goal line and found twine.

Adrian College got one back :29 seconds later to make it 3-1, but Berchild scored :38 seconds after. A shot was sent on net from Dayne Beuker (Portland, Ore.) as Berchild picked up the loose rebound and slid it across the goal line.

Just like the two periods previous, Team USA got on the board first in the final frame. At 9:57, Lukas Zajic (Plainfield, Ill.) found the puck in front of the net, made a move and found Logan Lutner (Maple Grove, Minn.) with an open net to work with a put it home.

Beuker recorded his second point of the night, and his first goal, 1:54 later as Wyatt Cullen (Moorhead, Minn.) made a diving pass to put the puck on Beuker's stick and find twine. Stuart netted his second of the night at 14:24, the final goal of the night, as Team USA won, 7-1.

Carrithers stopped 23 shots in the win.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team plays its final home game of the 2025-26 Kroger College Series tomorrow (Jan. 10) at 7:00 p.m. ET as it's set to host Trine University in 'Star Wars Night'.
