MUSKEGON, Mich. - Nolan Fitzhenry (Andover, Minn.) scored his 14th goal of the season, but the U.S. National Under-17 Team was defeated 4-1 by the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Sunday afternoon.

Muskegon jumped on Team USA off the opening faceoff, but key stops by Eli Winters (Muskegon, Mich.) kept the Lumberjacks off the board early. Winters turned aside several chances, including a breakaway by Ty Bergerson, getting a toe on the puck to keep the game scoreless.

Box Score

The Lumberjacks were able to solve Winters late in the first period, scoring two goals off the sticks of Drew Stewart and Tynan Lawrence.

NTDP alum Jake Stuart scored on the power play for Muskegon in the second to make it 3-0.

Nolan Fitzhenry stayed hot for the U17s, scoring his second goal of the weekend. Taking advantage of a 5-on-3 power play, Fitzhenry walked into the slot and ripped a shot into the back of the net.

Muskegon responded four minutes later from Niles Benson to make it 4-1 to head into the third period.

The U.S. were unable to cut into the lead in the final period as the Muskegon Lumberjacks shut the door to hold onto the 4-1 victory.

The U17s are back at USA Hockey Arena next Friday, Jan. 2 as they host the Sioux City Musketeers. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. ET and tickets are available at USAHockeyNTDP.com/tix or by calling the box office at 734-453-8400.
