SIOUX FALLS, S.D. Nolan Fitzhenry (Andover, Minn.),  Sam Pandolfo (Winchester, Mass.), and Hudson Salvador (Warren, N.J.) scored for the U.S. National Under-17 Team, but Team USA fell to the Sioux Falls Stampede, 11–3, on Friday afternoon at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Fitzhenry opened the scoring early in the first. After Finnegan Sears (Medford, Mass.) stripped a Stampede defender and carried the puck behind the net, he fed Fitzhenry in front, where the forward jammed it home for a 1–0 lead.

Sioux Falls answered with a goal from Juho Keinanen, but the U17s quickly regained the advantage. Brayden Willis (Gilbert, Ariz.) sprung Carter Meyer (Winchester, Mass.) into the zone, and Meyer spun off a defender before finding a streaking Sam Pandolfo who buried his fourth of the season to make it 2–1.

The Stampede controlled the remainder of the period, scoring three unanswered to take a 4–2 lead into the intermission. Sioux Falls carried that momentum into the second, adding three more goals to extend its advantage.

Early in the third, Hudson Salvador cut into the deficit with his third goal of the season. After Broden McArthur (Dallas, Texas) intercepted a pass in the defensive zone, he fed Alexander Milojevic (Chicago, Ill) who chipped the puck ahead to Salvador. Skating in on a two-on-one, Salvador fired a shot past the goaltender’s glove to make it 7–3.

Sioux Falls answered moments later, and added another three goals late to close out an 11–3 final.

The U17s return for the rematch against Sioux Falls tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. ET . They are back at USA Hockey Arena Saturday, Dec. 5 as they host the Lincoln Stars. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. ET and tickets are available at USAHockeyNTDP.com/tix or by calling the box office at 734-453-8400.
