U17s drop to Madison Capitols 8-0

Team USA returns Wednesday night against the Muskegon Lumberjacks

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - The U.S. National Under-17 Team dropped to the Madison Capitols on Saturday Night, 8-0, at USA Hockey Arena.

Madison struck first at 16:50 in the first period after a scramble in front of the net sent a bouncing puck in for a goal.

Team USA’s best chance of the period came at the 13:47 mark. Rocco Pelosi (Sewell, N.J.) picked up a runaway puck to launch a cross ice pass to Brayden Willis (Gilbert, Ariz.) who couldn’t beat the goaltender, leaving it 1-0 Madison.

Highlights

Madison doubled their lead just over ten minutes after their first goal off a quick shot from the face-off circle.

In the final three minutes of the first, Madison capitalized off a turnover on a breakaway to make it 3-0 heading into the second period.

A shot by Madison from the blue line bounced off a player, adding a fourth goal in the Capitols favor at 11:39 in the period.

Madison added a fifth and sixth goal on the powerplay to make it at 6-0 heading into the third period.

Two more goals were added to Madison’s total in the third to make the final score 8-0.

The U17s are back at USA Hockey Arena next Friday, Oct. 20 as they host the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. ET and tickets are available at USAHockeyNTDP.com/tix or by calling the box office at 734-453-8400.
