ULRICEHAMN, Sweden - Behind a trio of goals from AJ Garcia (Romeoville, Ill.) and six special team goals, the U.S. National Under-18 Team erupted for 10 goals against Czechia and won, 10-2, today inside Lassalyckans Ishall in game three of the Five-Nations Tournament.

Czechia was the first to strike as it converted on the power play at 12:09. Team USA and Victor Plante (Hermantown, Minn.) answered right back, 1:17 later, and netted a power play tally of his own. A shot from the blue line from Luke Schairer (Charlotte, N.C.) was saved initially, but Plante crashed the crease and cleaned up the rebound past Czechia's starting netminder David Vermirovsky.

Team USA's special teams continued as AJ Francisco (Hermantown, Minn.) kept the team perfect on the power play. Wyatt Cullen (Moorhead, Minn.) initiated the play and dashed down the wing before he fed Sammy Nelson (Maple Grove, Minn.) in the offensive zone. After a quick handle, Nelson sent it to the blade of Francisco who found twine to give the U.S. a 2-1 lead headed into the locker room.

The scoring carried over into the middle frame as Mikey Berchild (Minnetonka, Minn.) found the scoresheet at the Five-Nations Tournament once again. Off an offensive-zone draw, the puck worked its way around towards Schairer who surveyed the ice and found Berchild at the goal line who slid it past Vermirovsky at 1:07.

Czechia answered 1:39 later on the power play to make it 3-2.

The theme of the game continued as the fifth total power play goal was scored and the third for Team USA as Jamie Glance (Stratham, N.H.) put one through. Francisco found Glance who fed it to Cullen as he took an initial shot on net. The puck trickled over to Glance after the save who had an open net to work with and potted his second goal of the tournament at 7:59.

A third U.S. goal of the period and Plante's second of the game increased Team USA's lead to three at 19:46 of the frame. Francisco handled the puck towards the top of the blue line and fired it through traffic. Plante skated with a defender in the slot and redirected the puck before it bounced off a Czech defender and trickled in.

Casey Mutryn (Norwell, Mass.) added to the total at 2:10 of the third on the power play with helpers from Plante and Berchild. Garcia tacked on back-to-back goals 1:39 apart, one full strength and one shorthanded, as Lukas Zajic (Plainfield, Ill.) added another at 14:21 of the period.

Garcia tacked on one more shorthanded to account for his hat trick at 15:25 as the U.S. went on to win, 10-2.

Luke Carrithers (Maple Grove, Minn.) started in net for Team USA and turned aside 25 shots in the win.
