PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Freddie Schneider (Edina, Minn.) and Nolan Fitzhenry (Andover, Minn.) both tallied a goal but the U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Green Bay Gamblers, 4-2, Thursday night at USA Hockey Arena.

Green Bay’s Frantisek Netusil started off the scoring, getting on the board at 13:24 into the first period.

The Gamblers were able to add to their lead right before the end of the period off a Cruz Martin deflection in front.

In the second, the U17s responded. Finnegan Sears (Medford, Mass.) found a streaking Freddie Schneider down the center of the ice. Schneider rushed past both defenders, going in on a break, and beating the Green Bay goaltender to put Team USA on the board.

Netusil was able to get his second of the game for Green Bay off a shot from the slot.

40 seconds later, the NTDP made it a 3-2 game after they capitalized on the power play. Brayden Willis (Gilbert, Ariz.) shot it from the point, with the rebound finding the stick of Braden Horton (Souderton, Pa.). Horton tried to put the puck away but ended up passing it down to Carter Meyer (Winchester, Mass.), throwing it over to Nolan Fitzhenry on the other side of the play, who sniped it into the wide open net.

Elliot Gulley made it 4-2 for the Gamblers on the power play 1:16 into the third period.

NTDP alumni Landon Hafele and David Rozsival scored two more for the Gamblers, which sealed the victory for Green Bay, 6-2.

Eli Winters started in net and made 27 saves.

The U17s go on the road tomorrow night to take on the Youngstown Phantoms. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. ET and will be on FloHockeyTV. The U18s return to USA Hockey Arena tomorrow and Saturday night for the Kroger College Series against Lake Superior State and Ferris State.
