USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program enters play this weekend with a 1-1-1-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL) record after the Under-18 Team was swept in a home-and-home preseason series and the Under-17 Team split their preseason games on the road. On Friday night, the U18s hosted Youngstown for the 8th annual Play with Purpose Charity Hockey Game and fell in a shootout (SOL, 4-3, Sept. 12), and the U17s lost in overtime to the Minnesota Mallards (OTL, 6-5, Sept 12). On Saturday night, the U18s were defeated by the Phantoms in Canonsburg, Pa. (L, 5-3, Sept. 13), and the U17s defeated the Mallards at Forest Lake Sports Center (W, 5-1, Sept. 13).
The U18s are on the road this weekend as they travel to Cranberry Township, Pa. for the USHL Fall Classic to face-off against the Fargo Force on Saturday night (Sept. 20) at 4:30 p.m. ET. The following day (Sunday, Sept. 21), the U18s take on the Lincoln Stars at 2:30 p.m. ET at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
