PLYMOUTH, Mich. - The U.S. National Under-18 Team comeback fell just short as they dropped a 3-2 decision to the Chicago Steel on March 22 at USA Hockey Arena.
Drew Schock IV (Green Bay, Wis.) opened the scoring for the U18s at 15:11 of the first period. Jacob Kvasnicka (Wayzata, Minn.) had the initial shot on goal, but Schock IV was able to corral the loose puck and send it home for his sixth goal of the season.

The second period saw plenty of back and forth action but neither team could fit the back of the net. The U18s finished with 13 shots on goal while the Steel had 8.
It was a wild third period with four goals scored. The Steel scored the first two goals of the period. Adam Valentini tied the game at 1-1, just 2:46 into the period. With 3:15 to go, Tobias Ohman scored the go-ahead goal for the Steel.
However, the U18s answered right back, just 11 seconds later, as Jake Stuart (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) tied the game back at 2-2 with a backhanded goal. Andrew O’Neill (Fargo, N.D.) and Will Belle (Minnetonka, Minn.) picked up the assists on the Stuart goal.
The Steel scored the eventual game-winner on the power play with 1:32 left. Cameron Briere got a puck past Joey Slavick (Westland, Mich.), who finished the game with 20 saves.
The U18s head out on the road next to face the Des Moines Buccaneers on March 28 and the Waterloo Black Hawks on March 29. The games will stream live on FloHockey.
