PLYMOUTH, Mich. Logan Stuart (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) scored his second goal of the weekend, but the U.S. National Under-17 Team dropped a 10-2 final to the Youngstown Phantoms tonight from USA Hockey Arena.

The Phantoms jumped out to a 3-0 lead to open play. Michael Mesic struck first, just 48 seconds in, off the opening draw. Luke Santilli doubled Youngstown's tick, scoring far-side at 10:59. Landan Resendes added a third with 2:19 to play off a quick one from the slot.

Brody George (Johnstown, Pa.) had perhaps Team USA's best chance of the period, flying up the left wing and ripping one from the circle with 6:27 left in the period, but the shot rang off the crossbar.

JP Hurlbert (Allen, Texas) broke through with a power-play goal 3:38 into the middle frame to cut the deficit to two. Logan Lutner (Maple Grove, Minn.) fed Hurlbert at the point, and Hurlbertt skated into the high slot and fired through traffic to get the U.S. on the board. Lukas Zajic (Plainfield, Ill.) picked up a point as well.

Evan Jardine brought Youngstown back up by three 2:20 later off a lucky trickle-in goal, then Justin Kerr made it 5-1, jamming a rebound past Brady Knowling (Chicago, Ill.).

Team USA suffered a high-sticking major to send The Phantoms to a 5:00 power play, and Jamison Sluys, Resendes and Jardine all found the back of the net with the man advantage.

Stuart also picked one up, shorthanded, forcing the puck free in the defensive zone, skating up the ice and deking out Youngstown netminder Melvin Strahl with some gorgeous puck work for an 8-2 scoreboard heading into the final frame.

Kade Stengrim and Conner de Haro each added a goal apiece in the third for the 10-2 final.

The U17s are set for their third and final international break of the season next week as they head to Helsinki, Finland, for the 2025 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament. Team USA begins play Wednesday (Feb. 5) against Sweden. Puck drop is set for 8:00 a.m. ET and the game can be streamed live here.
